What is Phishing?
Fake emails and websites designed to steal your login details, card numbers, and identity.
Phishing uses fake emails and websites to trick people into sharing information or sending money.
How it works:
Scammers send realistic-looking emails pretending to be from your bank, SARS, a courier company, or a well-known brand. The message may create urgency โ "your account will be closed" or "a parcel is waiting".
The email contains a link that takes you to a fake website that looks almost identical to the real one. When you type in your login or card details, the scammer captures them.
How to spot it:
1. Check the sender email address carefully; display names can be misleading. 2. Check where links actually go before opening them. 3. Never share your PIN, password, or full card CVV in response to an email. 4. If in doubt, open the company app directly instead of following a link.
Remember: Pause. Think. Verify. No Eish.
